Summary
Join us for an up to 3-mile round trip along the Lakeside River Park Trail as we search for winter season visitors!
Description
The Lakeside River Park Trail is a 1.5-mile trail that runs along the San Diego River surrounded by rich riparian areas, including several large ponds along the river, and coastal sage/scrub. We will likely see many migratory birds as they settle in for winter including White Crowned Sparrows and Yellow Rumped Warblers, and numerous species of waterfowl, although we will likely see many other birds. The trail is mostly flat with one decline as you pass under Riverford road going eastward.
We will start our outing at the Lakeside Ballpark parking lot, where restrooms are located, at the eastend of Walker Preserve in Santee. We will walk eastward toward Channel Road in Lakeside. Please join us for a fun morning at this wonderful location!
