Join us for a weekday opportunity to help with meaningful conservation work!

Description

There are so many amazing things happening on weekends throughout the county. This beloved activity is back, giving us a weekday opportunity to roll up our sleeves and help restore critical sand dune habitat for the endangered California Least Tern.

With the support of our California Climate Action Fellow, Jacob, these events will combine meaningful conservation work with a strong sense of community. Whether you're reconnecting with a favorite activity or joining us for the first time, we can’t wait to see you there!

Help restore coastal dune habitat by removing invasive plants and conducting other land management activities at various California Least Tern nesting preserves. No experience is required.

Come prepared in close-toed shoes and bring a water bottle. We'll provide all the tools, gloves needed. A portable potty is available nearby.

Detailed Directions to North Fiesta Island:

North Fiesa Nesting Preserve on Fiesta Island in Mission Bay, San Diego (32.785195, -117.215450)

  • Drive onto Fiesta Island. Keep right at the fork. Do not follow signs to the San Diego Youth Aquatic Center, just continue down the road.
  • After about a quarter mile, you'll arrive at the nesting site. You’ll be looking for a chain link fence with an open gate and signs that say “California Least Tern nesting area.”
  • Drive slowly as the gate is easy to miss and you'll be forced to drive around the whole island again.
  • Park on the right hand side, off the road or parking is available just inside the gate. *Note: No parking on left hand side of the road*
