West Ski Island Restoration

Join San Diego Bird Alliance for restoration on West Ski Island!

West Ski Island was the chosen nesting site of over 16,000 Elegant Terns last year - about a quarter of their global population. While elegant terns are not listed as endangered they are a Species of Concern in California and need our help to make sure their recently established nesting area continues to be as productive. We will prepare the nest site by removing trash and invasive weeds to give the colony more room to grow.

To reach West Ski Island, we will embark on a short kayak ride across Mission Bay launching from Crown Point. We will provide life jackets, as well as all of the supplies needed for this work. Space is limited, so RSVP or bring your own vessel to join in!

Park at Crown Point Park North, and then walk to the big dirt lot to the North.
