Description

Earth Day Planting Party at Sweetwater Park

Celebrate Earth Day with us by joining a Planting Party at the Port of San Diego's Sweetwater Park! This newly restored coastal sage scrub habitat is adjacent to the Sweetwater marsh where many endangered, migratory and resident species can be found. In restoring the transition zone, we will add to the area's ability to support a diverse array of wildlife.

We will be planting native plants, so come prepared in closed-toed shoes and layers. A reusable water bottle and hat are also recommended. We will provide the gloves, tools, snacks and water.

Park at the new Sweetwater Park parking lot just past the roundabout, and then walk along the bike path to the restoration site (about 10 minutes)

  • Parking lot Address: 845 E Street, Chula Vista, CA 91910 (Just west of the Sun Outdoors San Diego Bay RV Resort – follow E Street to west of I-5 toward the Living Coast Discovery Center. After the RV resort, there will be a large Sweetwater Park monument sign at a roundabout. Go right at the roundabout. The parking lot will be on the left.)
  • Site Coordinates: 32.636864, -117.107499
