Rose Canyon Open Space Park contains many interacting habitats unique to
Southern California. Coastal sage scrub and chaparral cover hills and fields, an oak
woodland works along the north-facing hillsides, while a very rare riparian habitat
runs the length of the park. Birding here is good all year. Hawks, woodpeckers,
warblers, flycatchers, and possibly early migrants, like Orioles, Chat’s and
Grosbeaks are among the birds to be seen. Easy walking. No Restrooms
available. Capped at 15 participants.
Directions: Exit from Highway 52 at the Regents Road exit and head north about 1
mile to the trailhead/end of road.
Registration required.
