Join Bird Alliance and Friends of Famosa Slough for wetland, riparian and chaparral habitat restoration.

Description

Famosa Slough is a unique wetlands habitat in the middle of an urban area. This habitat sees many challenges and yet it supports over 30 species of birds this time of year, from Shorebirds and Passerine species to Raptors and Terns. Come join us in helping Friends of Famosa Slough with ongoing trail maintenance, invasive plant removal, trash clean up and on-your-own birding. Show up when you can and leave when you want! This event would be part of Border BioBlitz, so come prepared with your Phone to help us document everything we see.

What is a BioBlitz? National Geographic defines a BioBlitz as “an event that focuses on finding and identifying as many species as possible in a specific area over a short period of time.” Many BioBlitz events will be taking place in April and May – check out the rest of the event calendar to see more locations!

What to bring: Refillable water bottle, close-toed shoes, appropriate weather attire, hat and sunscreen

What is provided: All necessary tools, water and snacks

Please meet us in the dirt lot at the intersection of Valeta St. and Famosa BLVD (32.7479167, -117.2294087)
