Marian Bear Open Space is part of Tecolote Canyon system and one of several protected urban canyons in the San Diego area that support native plant communities and associated bird life. Birds that are here for the entire year include hawks, Anna’s Hummingbird, California Thrasher, House Wren, Wrentit, and both California and Spotted Towhees. You can never tell what you may see. It is a moderate walk on mostly packed dirt with some uneven ground and rocks, as well as slight uphills. Restrooms at the trailhead.
Registration required. Capacity 15 attendees.

Directions: Marian Bear is tricky! Make sure you go to the East side rather than the West! Here is the google info and directions.

Driving Directions:
From South of the 52: Take 5 North and take exit 26B for CA-52 East, continue on and take exit 1B, turn right on to Regents Road. STAY ON REGENTS and make a U-Turn at Luna Avenue continue back toward the 52, you will see a sign to your right for Marian Bear San Clemente Canyon, turn right and drive to the parking lot.
From North of the 52: Take 5 South and take exit 26 for CA-52 East, continue on and take exit 1B, turn right on to Regents Road. STAY ON REGENTS and make a U-Turn at Luna Avenue continue back toward the 52, you will see a sign to your right for Marian Bear/San Clemente Canyon. turn right and drive to the parking lot.
From Westbound 52: Take exit 1 and turn right on to Regents Road, STAY ON REGENTS and make a U-Turn at Luna Avenue continue back toward the 52, you will see a sign to your right for Marian Bear/San Clemente Canyon. turn right and drive down to the parking lot.
Unfortunately, public transit does not access this location within a mile of the trailhead. Catch us next month at Tecolote Canyon!
