Tijuana River Valley Community Gardens, Image by Jo Sherif
Tijuana River Valley Bird & Butterfly Garden is a special location that attracts a diverse range of birds and other wildlife throughout the year. The main garden is adjacent to the Tijuana River flanked by tall trees, shrubs and native plants. The river valley is rich in biodiverse habitats that offer native and migrating birds plenty of water, food and places of rest. We should expect to see a variety of songbirds, raptors and possibly the resident Black-throated Magpie Jays!
Recently, the garden underwent substantial improvements with the removal of invasive plants, restoration and planting of native plants and installation of new water drips. Easy to traverse wide dirt paths weave visitors around the garden providing opportunities for close up views of birds and plant life offering an enriching and rewarding experience for birders of all levels. Please wear safe shoes and bring water, hat and sunscreen
