Tijuana River Valley Community Gardens is the largest community garden in San Diego County! Located in Imperial Beach (2100 Hollister St, San Diego, CA 92154), it contains 5 acres of land with over 200 garden plots and 10 micro farms.

The South end of the garden is adjacent to the Tijuana River and flanked by tall trees, shrubs and native plants. The river valley is rich in biodiverse habitats that offer endemic and migrating birds plenty of water, food and places of rest.

The bulk of the community gardens is home to fruiting and flowering trees and shrubs, fruit, vegetables and ornamental flowers. Some of the gardeners are bird lovers and have bird feeders set out to welcome their high flying friends.

We should expect to see a variety of songbirds, raptors and possibly the resident Black-throated Magpie Jays!  The easy to traverse wide dirt paths weave visitors around the garden providing opportunities for close up views of birds and plant life offering an enriching and rewarding experience for birders of all levels.

Please wear safe shoes and bring water, hat and sunscreen. Depending on the weather a light jacket may be needed as well.

If you have any questions, please contact Joanne Sherif (760) 613-2040

We will meet at the picnic table in the parking lot off of Hollister.
