Summary
Community habitat restoration event removing invasive plants from a California Least Tern nesting preserve in Mission Bay, San Diego.
Description
Help the California Least Tern
Join San Diego Audubon as we restore nesting habitat for the California Least Tern, a federally endangered migratory seabird, at Mariner's Point. Mariner's Point is one of the most important California Least Tern nesting sites in Mission Bay!
UPDATE: It seems the weather has shifted and rain is now forecasted for Saturday. We will attempt to work through light rains and drizzle, if there is any with a 10-25% chance. Though heavy rains are estimated to begin around 12-1 PM so we may end the day early. We would still appreciate your help but understand if you are not comfortable with volunteering in these conditions.
We will be removing invasive weeds to make room for these nesting endangered birds.
All supplies will be provided including tools, gloves, water and snacks, but come prepared in closed-toed shoes and bring a reusable water bottle and hat.
The closest address to the nesting site is 1215 Mariners Way, San Diego, CA 92109. Detailed directions will be emailed after registration.
