Description

Old Mission Dam

The Old Mission Dam in Mission Trails Regional Park spans the  San Diego River, and is surrounded by a riparian habitat of reeds and willows. This quickly gives way to oaks and then coastal sage and scrub leading up into the neighboring hills. As such the region provides a rich habitat for a variety of birds: raptors, flycatchers, gnatcatchers, and sparrows are among the species found all along the various intersecting trails that lead out from the dam. Come join us for a lovely fall morning birding adventure.
