Tecolote Canyon system is one of several protected urban canyons in the San Diego area that support native plant communities and associated bird life. Birds that are here for the entire year include hawks, Anna’s Hummingbird, California Thrasher, House Wren, Wrentit, and both California and Spotted Towhees. You can never tell what you may see. It is a moderate walk on mostly packed dirt with some uneven ground and rocks, as well as slight uphills. Restrooms at the trailhead.
Registration required. Capacity 15 attendees.
Stay tuned for a specific location. This hike will be in the Tecolote Canyon system, either at Tecolote Canyon or at Marian Bear.
Due to construction in the canyon, we have had to move this event to Marian Bear Open Space for several months. We are in contact with park rangers to keep informed on the status of construction as the trail from the nature center is nearly ready to open.
