Summary
Description
The trail is widely accessible for users of all mobility levels with its wide, flat pathways. Wheelchair-friendly! See more accessibility information on the Birdability map. Search for "Bayside Birding" and it should show up in the dropdown menu.
Join us and explore Bayside Birding and Walking Path! The walking path along the bay has been restored in this area to support native plant communities and associated bird life. The Otay River runs into the San Diego Bay, mixing with the ocean water as tides rise and fall. The dynamic, brackish waters offer a variety of environments and attracts an endless array of wildlife. With all kinds of birds - from terns and gulls, to osprey and red-tails, to herons and egrets, to song sparrows and common yellowthroats - this wildlife refuge has been designated as an IBA: Important Bird Area by the National Audubon Society. Every IB local has got to check this space out. You never know what you may see.
It may be hot - there is no shade on the pathway! Come prepared with sunscreen and heat-appropriate attire (hats, sunglasses, light clothing) as well as plenty of cold water.
Registration required. Maximum capacity 16 attendees.
