Description:
Come join San Diego Bird Alliance birding at Waterfront Park as we celebrate Black History Month! Beloved for its interactive splash fountains and views of the San Diego Bay, Waterfront Park is one of the few public green spaces in downtown San Diego. Join bird guide Roslyn Rivas in spotting beautiful birds in and out of the water, and learning more about Black history in this city and around the world.
While allies are more than welcome to attend, this event is meant to be a safe space for those who are a part of the Black community. Let's all enjoy our time in nature while making space for Black folks, who have historically been excluded from outdoor spaces.
We will meet by the public restrooms near the Waterfront Park Playground at the south end of the park (on County Center South between North Harbor Dr. and Pacific Highway).
Waterfront Park consists of open, flat terrain with plenty of sitting areas. The closest transit stops include the County Center/Little Italy trolley station via the Blue and Green lines, the Ash St & Pacific Hwy stop for the 280 and 290 buses, and the N Harbor Dr & Ash St stop for the 923 and 992 buses. Street parking and paid parking lots are available nearby.
