Description

Contribute to Community Science

San Diego and the border eco-region are part of a global biodiversity hotspot—come explore it with us! 🌿

Join our community science Bioblitz, where we’ll work together to observe and document as many plants, animals, and fungi as possible. Your observations will contribute to the global City Nature Challenge, connecting our local efforts to a worldwide community of nature observers.

Whether you're brand new or experienced, this is a chance to slow down, get curious, and see this habitat in a whole new way.

We recommend bringing a smartphone with the iNaturalist app downloaded. No experience needed—we’ll guide you through how to use it and help identify what you find.

All supplies will be provided including tools, gloves, water and snacks, but come prepared in a hat and closed-toe shoes and bring a reusable water bottle.

This BioBlitz event will take place at the Port of San Diego's Sweetwater Park! This newly restored coastal sage scrub habitat is adjacent to the Sweetwater marsh where many endangered, migratory and resident species can be found.
