California Bird Atlas Big Weekend- Breeding Bird Survey at Silverwood

Have you ever heard about the California Bird Atlas? It is California's first statewide Breeding Bird Survey. By understanding the resources that are important to breeding birds, this project can help land managers and conservation organizations prioritize resoration and protection efforts.

California Bird Atlas is looking to understand the needs of birds, and you can help! This field trip is designed to teach you how to do a Breeding Bird Survey: what to look for and how to log the behaviors you see. It's easy!

Once you know how it is done, you can continue to do it every time you go birding.

We'll have several groups to provide an experience for people of all abiliites. Some groups will observe on Silverwood's trails. Some groups will observe from stationary points within the preserve.
