Summary
Description
Thursday, June 25th, 12-3 PM
Join us for a Bird Sit! It is a stationary birding activity, where we go someplace where the birds are plentiful, set up some optics, and watch the birds from the comfort of a chair.
Binoulars will be available for those who are new to birding. We'll have spotting scopes, too. Experienced birders will be on hand to talk about the birds we see and keep track of them in eBird. Expect to see egrets and herons, as well as gulls, terns, and pelicans. Birds of prey appear overhead, including osprey, hawks, and falcons.
Drop in anytime, and stay as long as you like! We will have low set scopes for those seated or in wheelchairs. Some chairs will be provided but we recommend bringing your own outside chairs if possible!! Lastly, this location can be very loud at moments, with planes overhead, nearby freeway traffic, and heavy use on the pathway along the river. It doesn't discourage the birds, seemingly, but please take care of yourself and plan accordingly.
Meet us at the north side of the San Diego River Mouth on Quivira Way, across the street from the Aquarius Grill
GPS Coordinates: 32.758596, -117.238531
Please park in the dirt area adjacent to the bike path, not in the private parking lots across the street!
Restrooms are available less than half a mile away, at hospitality point.
