Description

Friday, August 21st !

6pm to dusk -

San Diego Bird Alliance proudly presents... another Queer Hike!

This month: Tecolote Canyon (North)

These outings are a safe and respectful space for ALL queer-identifying persons. In this space, we expect everyone to be respectful of identity and chosen pronouns. Pronouns: What and Why

Join us for a nature walk that is for all people who seek a non-judgemental community, where we celebrate diversity among birds and birders. Leashed, friendly dogs are welcome to join. This one's for the hikers! This will be an approximately 3 mile loop kept at a moderate pace, with limited bird identification and interpretation. It will be hot! Come prepared with sunscreen and heat-appropriate attire (hats, sunglasses, light clothing) as well as plenty of cold water. Some sections of the trail are very rocky and steep. Wear good shoes. You may also want trek poles.

Tecolote Canyon is one of several protected urban canyons in the San Diego area that support native plant communities and associated bird life.  Birds that are here for the entire year include hawks, Anna’s Hummingbird, California Thrasher, House Wren, Wrentit, and both California and Spotted Towhees.
