El Monte County Park is set in the oak forest habitat nestled just below El Cajon Mountain above Lakeside. The ample acorn supply attracts turkeys, acorn woodpeckers, jays, and band-tailed pigeons, while the berries from numerous wild bushes are food for thrushes, finches, sparrows, and phainopepla. Join us to explore this pretty park, rich with birdlife even in winter. Capped at 15 participants.

Directions: From Highway 52 or 8 going east, take Highway 67 north to the stoplight at Mapleview in Lakeside, go right, continue to El Monte Rd and go left. Continue up the valley to the parking lot on the left. We will meet and walk from there.
