Beach Walk to the Mouth of the Tijuana River
Google Maps: Seacoast Drive, GPS: 32.5666, -117.1324
Leaders: Peter Thomas, and others.
This is a nice walk along the beach, starting from the southernmost end of Seacoast Drive in Imperial Beach, and proceeding south to the mouth of the Tijuana River. We will look
for migrating shorebirds, as well as summer arrivals. Special target birds will be Least Terns and Western Snowy Plovers. Finding the bits of kelp, mollusks, and other marine
life that have washed up along the shore is an added attraction. Capped at 12 participants.
Directions: From I-5 going south, exit at Palm Avenue, and go west. Proceed through Imperial Beach, following the signs for Palm Avenue to the left, as Highway 75 forks off
to the right. Proceed to Seacoast Drive, turn left (south), and drive to the end of the road and park. Meet at the marsh overlook.
