Description
We invite the community, art lovers, and environmental advocates to join us in celebrating this new landmark and learning more about the wildlife of Pacific Beach.
San Diego Audubon Society and Beautiful PB have partnered with Hanna’s Murals to bring a vibrant new addition to Pacific Beach: a mural celebrating the region’s rich natural habitat. This latest artwork will be installed on August 15th and August 16th at Surf and Post Shipping Center. The community is invited to join Beautiful PB and San Diego Audubon Society for the unveiling of this new mural on August 24th at 1 PM. The event, co-hosted by both non-profits, aims to connect the public with the beauty and importance of local wetlands and sand dune habitats.
Local artist Hanna Daly, founder of Hanna’s Murals, has designed the mural to foster a deeper appreciation for the natural world through passive recreation such as bird watching. Known for her vivid use of color and nature-inspired themes, Hanna has painted over 1,500 murals since 2004. Her latest work will feature the endangered California Least Tern alongside its close relative, the Elegant Tern, currently creating a stunning natural display during its nesting season at Crown Point Park.
This mural is more than a work of art, it is a tribute to the diverse species that inhabit Mission Bay and a call to action for their conservation. By showcasing the beauty and ecological importance of these flora and fauna, the mural aims to raise awareness of their critical status and the importance of preserving their habitats. San Diego County is the most biodiverse county in the lower 48, and this mural gives us a glimpse of some of the species we share our shoreline with.
