Old Mission Dam is a favorite destination for birding throughout the year. Resident species include California Thrasher, both Towhees, Wrentit, Bewick’s Wren, House Wren, and Nuttall’s
Woodpecker. California Quail can be heard, and sometimes seen. Summer visitors have mostly gone by now, but we may see some early Winter arrivals. This walk will cover varied terrain and
focus on riparian woodland around the historic dam and the nearby grassland. Porta-potty at the trailhead. Birders at all levels are welcome. Capped at 12 participants.

Directions: Exit CA-52 at Mast Blvd, exit 13. If coming from the west, turn left, go under the freeway, then right on West Hills Parkway, turn right on Mission Gorge Rd, take a slight right
onto Father Junipero Serra Trail. A small parking lot will be on the right in about 0.75 miles. If the lot is full, there will be parking along the road. If coming from the east, exit at Mast Blvd,
turn right on Mast, then right again on West Hills Parkway, and proceed as above.
